Hallie and Travis

The Story of Two Great Kids

Travis was incredibly sweet to his sister when she started feeling crummy on Sunday. While she was resting on the couch, he made sure we were all whispering so we wouldn’t disturb her. He’s got an electric keyboard in his room, and he quickly hit upon the idea of making up a “go to sleep” song for Hallie. He’d play for a minute and then come creeping out to peek and see if it worked. Most of the time her eyes were still open. Once, though, they were closed, and Travis was about to burst with pride at “having put Hallie to sleep.”

Travis’s favorite feature of the keyboard is the rhythm feature, for which he can adjust both volume and tempo. It won’t come as a surprise that Travis likes the beat loud and fast, not exactly lullaby material. Still, his motivation was in the right place and he was extremely sweet throughout Hallie’s illness.

The tables turned for a bit yesterday when Hallie was feeling fine and Travis wasn’t. Hallie hasn’t always dealt so well with the lack of attention for her that that brings. Maybe b/c her own illness was so recent or maybe because she’s just going better about this, Hallie was very sweet with Travis last night. It was a pleasure to see those interactions both ways!
